Typography for interfaces
After this you can build a type scale, set line height and measure for readability, and pair or restrict typefaces without the result looking accidental.
Why it matters
Interfaces are overwhelmingly text, so typography is most of the visual craft. The specific things to get right: a scale with clear steps rather than arbitrary sizes, line height that grows as line length grows, a measure of roughly 45 to 75 characters for body text, and restraint (one or two families is plenty). Beginners reliably set line height too tight for body text and too loose for headings. Watch for how a scale is derived, because you will rebuild one as a Figma text style set later.
