Interaction and motion basics
After this you can specify transitions and micro-interactions that communicate state and causality, at durations that feel right rather than decorative.
Why it matters
Motion in product design has jobs: showing where something came from, confirming an action registered, covering latency, and directing attention. The craft is restraint and timing: most UI transitions live between 150 and 300 milliseconds, and easing should suggest physics. Always design the reduced-motion alternative; vestibular disorders make gratuitous animation genuinely harmful. Trap: showreel animation in a portfolio, which signals you have not worked on a product where every frame costs engineering time.
How to use this resource
From someone who builds as well as designs, so the advice accounts for implementation cost. The channel and title have been renamed since publication (it was 'Micro-interactions to delight your users: what, when and how'); the content is the same twelve-minute walkthrough.
