Negotiating the offer
After this you can research a fair range, avoid anchoring yourself low, and negotiate an offer without endangering it.
Why it matters
Almost every offer has room, and juniors leave money on the table by treating the first number as fixed. Research the range before any conversation, deflect the early 'what are your expectations' question until you have an offer, and when you counter, do it once, politely, with a reason. Negotiate the whole package (start date, equipment, learning budget, title, remote days), not only base. Trap: accepting immediately out of relief. A day to consider is normal and expected, and asking for it costs nothing.
How to use this resource
Design-specific, which matters because design levelling and titles are less standardised than engineering. Principles hold despite the 2021 date.
