Project: design an app from a written spec
After this you have a complete, tested design you produced from a brief without a tutorial to follow.
Why it matters
Brief: design a mobile app that helps someone manage a recurring personal obligation they currently handle badly. Choose one of: medication schedules for a family member, splitting irregular shared household costs, or tracking a chronic condition's symptoms for a doctor's appointment. Requirements: (1) interview three real people who have this problem, and write down two things you learned that contradicted your assumptions; (2) produce a flow and a sitemap; (3) wireframe at least two structurally different approaches before choosing; (4) build the chosen approach to high fidelity in Figma, using components, auto layout and text/colour styles throughout; (5) build a clickable prototype covering the primary task plus one error path; (6) state a success measure. Constraints: no dark patterns, works one-handed, and it must handle an empty state and a failure state. It is good when the interviews measurably changed the design, when a stranger can complete the primary task in your prototype unaided, and when your file could be handed to another designer without explanation.
How to use this resource
Use it as a completeness check before you call the design done; it will catch the empty, loading and error states you forgot.
