The take-home challenge
After this you can scope, execute and present a take-home in the time given without overworking it or under-delivering.
Why it matters
Take-homes reward scoping judgement, not volume. Read the brief for what is actually being assessed, timebox honestly, and state your assumptions and what you deliberately left out; that statement is often what separates candidates. Present process alongside output; a beautiful deck with no reasoning loses to a rougher one that shows decisions. It is entirely reasonable to ask how much time is expected, and to decline an unpaid multi-day assignment; a company that demands a week of free work is telling you something. Trap: spending 20 hours on a 5-hour brief. It signals poor prioritisation, not enthusiasm.
