Project: your own end-to-end analysis
After this you hold a portfolio-grade analysis with a recommendation you can defend to a hiring manager.
Why it matters
Execute the project you scoped. Suggested shape, adapt as needed: (1) write a one-paragraph problem statement and get one person to challenge it; (2) load raw data into DuckDB or PostgreSQL and transform it with SQL or a small dbt project; (3) profile and clean it, logging each decision; (4) answer three to five sub-questions, at least one with a statistical test or confidence interval; (5) build one dashboard or a small set of charts; (6) write the memo and README. Timebox it: about six weeks at ten hours a week. If you are still cleaning in week four, narrow the question rather than extending the deadline. Traps: scope creep, a dashboard with no recommendation, and conclusions stronger than the data supports.
