Owning a production dashboard: consumers, SLAs, lineage and deprecation
After this you can run a dashboard or model as a product: know its consumers, define freshness expectations, track lineage and retire assets nobody uses.
Why it matters
Owning an asset means knowing who uses it, what they expect (refreshed by 8am, correct to the cent), what feeds it, and when it should be retired. Dashboard sprawl, where hundreds of unowned dashboards contradict each other, is one of the main reasons organisations stop trusting data. dbt exposures let you record which dashboards depend on which models, so you know who to warn before a change.
