Hiring analysts
After this you can define what a role needs, design an interview loop that tests it, and evaluate candidates consistently.
Why it matters
Hiring is the highest-leverage and least-trained thing analytics leaders do. Define what the person will actually do in their first year, design interview exercises that mirror that work (a realistic SQL problem, a case with ambiguous data, a write-up), use a consistent scoring rubric, and calibrate across interviewers. Free resources written for analytics hiring managers are scarce; the primary resource is a data leader describing how she built a large team.
How to use this resource
DoorDash's VP of Analytics and Data Science on building a world-class data organisation, including how she hires and what she looks for. Long; hiring is one part of the conversation, so skim for it.
