Take-home assignments done properly
After this you can plan and deliver a take-home that shows professional judgement within the time limit.
Why it matters
A take-home is a small portfolio piece under time pressure. Reviewers look for the same things as in your portfolio: clear structure, tests for the important parts, a README explaining decisions and what you would do with more time. Respect the time limit and say what you left out and why. That is a signal of judgement, not a weakness. Trap: gold-plating. A focused solution with tests beats a sprawling one without.
