AI assistants: the 2026 expectation
After this you can explain how you use AI coding tools responsibly, and when you do not.
Why it matters
Employers now expect engineers to use AI assistants well, and they also test whether you understand the code you ship. Know how you use these tools: for exploring an unfamiliar API, drafting tests, reviewing your own code, and where you do not trust them. Some interviews forbid AI tools; some expect them. Ask. Either way, you must be able to explain every line you submit. Trap: being unable to write a loop without an assistant. Practise without one regularly.
