Your first ninety days
After this you can plan your first three months in a new role to learn the codebase, ship early and build trust.
Why it matters
Your first months set how people see you. Ship something small in the first two weeks, even a documentation fix. Ask questions freely while you are new and it is expected. Write down what you learn about the codebase; your notes become the onboarding doc the team never had. The phases after this one are about growing from here: from someone who completes tickets to someone who owns systems, and eventually to someone who sets technical direction. Trap: staying quiet to look competent. New people who ask good questions ramp up fastest.
