Containers for application engineers
After this you can containerise a service, run it with its dependencies locally using Compose, and explain what the image contains and why.
Why it matters
Containers are how most software is packaged and deployed now. As an application engineer you need to write a sensible Dockerfile, understand layers and caching, run dependencies locally with Compose, and know what is different between your laptop and production. Focus on small, reproducible images, not running as root, and multi-stage builds. Trap: treating the container as a black box. When it breaks in production you need to know what is inside.
