Running the search: applications, referrals and outreach
After this you can run a weekly job-search routine that combines targeted applications with referrals and direct outreach.
Why it matters
Referrals convert to interviews at many times the rate of cold applications. Tell people you are looking, go to local meetups, contribute to open source, and write short, specific messages to engineers at companies you like. Apply in focused batches to roles that match your evidence, and tailor the top of your CV to each. Trap: applying to hundreds of jobs with the same CV. Fifty targeted applications beat five hundred generic ones.
