RFCs and running a design review
After this you can circulate a proposal, run a review that surfaces real objections, and drive it to a decision.
Why it matters
An RFC process makes design review a team habit: proposals are shared in writing, anyone can comment, and there is a clear point at which a decision is made. Running one well is a leadership skill. Send it to the people most likely to disagree first, ask specific questions, set a deadline for comments, and record the decision and dissent. Trap: treating silence as agreement. If the key reviewers have not commented, ask them directly.
